Roy Zetisky studied photography and film at the Brooks Institute in California in the early 1980’s and has subsequently had numerous solo photographic exhibitions and group exhibitions, sharing the walls with some of South Africa’s greatest photographers. Roy was a social documentary, people and fashion photographer in the 80’s and then started directing commercials in the early 90’s. Nowadays he focuses mostly on long form television and film projects, in between which he still makes time to drive his passion for photography. Roy is currently represented in London, Sydney and Cape Town by the film and post-production company Zebra Worldwide, within their commercials production company, Stripey Horse. In 2013 Roy was appointed as head of Cape Town’s AFDA Film School. Roy has been a judge of various film festivals and competitions, including The International Emmy Awards. He has won several awards for his work including best Cinematographer at the Vuka Awards.
Roy’s social documentary work from the early 1980’s is currently on exhibit at Gallery F in Cape Town and forms part of the P.A.P.A. Collection. Roy is also exhibiting some of his work at Exposure Gallery in the famous Old Biscuit Mill in Cape Town
